Choosing A Midwife

Choosing a midwife is rapidly growing in popularity around the world. With so much deception out there about midwives women tend to give birth in a Hospital. But why? There are so many amazing benefits upon having a midwife and the feeling of “wow, I just pushed my own child out of my vagina without all the drugs” is a wonderful feeling. I chose to have a midwife because they support and care about you and the baby more than doctors do, there is less medical intervention, and the cost is low.

Honestly, giving birth in a hospital never crossed my mind growing up and no one told me about who midwives were except for this one woman I met five years ago, before my daughter was born. She told me her story about giving birth at home and recommended to contact her midwife when I get pregnant because of the positive experience she had. Well, when I was nine weeks pregnant I immediately texted the midwife and I never looked back. My first impression about my midwife Beth, was how delightful and calm she was about everything. Beth was sincere and real my entire pregnancy, I decided to have her again the following year to help me deliver my second child. What a joy that was!

Building personal relationships and trust is very meaningful to me and I knew deep down when I first met Beth I could trust her helping me give birth to my baby. Doctors in Hospitals don’t seem to care much about you since they are in and out of the delivery room as quick as you can tie a shoe lace.

Midwifes also answer all your questions about the physical and emotional changes you experience throughout pregnancy, will help you think about what kind of birth experience you want and will support and encourage you 100%!

Midwives are low risk, decreased risk of needing a cesarean, reduced rates of labor induction and augmentation, reduce use of anesthesia, decreased infant mortality rates, decreased risk of preterm birth, decreased third and fourth-degree perineal tears. For example, after I gave birth to both of my babies in 2018 & 2019, I did not tear down in my lady part at all, which was a blessing.

Choosing a midwife is a personal yet rewarding decision you will ever make. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made and I’m thankful for midwives these days. Lower costs for both clients and insurers, increased chances of having a positive start to breastfeeding and an increased satisfaction with the quality of care.
